Zuko pushed a pile of scrolls toward Katara.

"What are these?"

"History. Specifically, our history. I… think."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you've heard the story of Oma and Shu, correct?"

Katara's eyes brightened. Memories flashed, images in her mind that were years old; her and Aang's first kiss. "Yes, of course."

"Do you know the story of Agni and La?"

The Water Tribe woman shrugged. "I know the generic legends of the past gods and goddesses, but very little. What of it?"

Zuko tapped his chin. Gray was beginning to spread throughout his beard and it was hard to get accustomed to. Katara, on the other hand, had aged well: her gray hair seemed to work well with her dark brown tresses. "La had Tui, of course. And Agni was of the sun; opposite of the moon. But they fell in love. It was forbidden, of course."

Katara shrugged. "What does this have to do with me?"

"Well…" the Fire Lord flipped through a few of the documents. "The tale of Kasai and Mizu? The account of Huo and Shui? Have you heard of these as well?"

"I've heard snippets of them. I repeat, my old friend, what do these people have to do with me?"

Zuko sighed. "I… I have been lonely since Mai died. I guess… this is a very awkward way of asking you if you were lonely without Aang as well. I… I miss all of us being together. I haven't had anyone since Mai died. It's been years since Uncle passed…" Zuko wiped away a tear.

The Water Tribe woman smiled. "I would love to, Zuko. Now, what do these people have to do with me?"

"I… think they might be our reincarnations."

"Oh Zuko, that's silly."

"I guess so."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"They might have been their reincarnations, hum?" Korra asked.
"I suppose so," Tenzin responded, shrugging as he knew his mother and father-in-law had so many years ago. "It matters not."
They both put away the same documents back on the library shelves that Zuko had show Katara several years earlier, plus one more. This one displayed Fire Lord Zuko's second wife, the Fire Lady Katara.
Dorky and short... this one had me stumped. (As does 'Social Networking.')
According to random internet searches, 'kasai,' 'mizu,' 'huo,' and 'shui,' are fire and water, respectively, in Japanese and Chinese mandarin. Don't quote me though.
